JustSpotted is a website dedicated entirely to tracking the movements of famous people, primarily Hollywood celebrities. The site aggregates all updates it finds regarding a celebrity’s whereabouts. It pulls information from Twitter, status updates, blog posts, news articles and anything else that discusses the location of a famous person. Users can become fans of their favorite important people so they can follow where those celebrities have been spotted most recently. The site includes Tweets and other content as well as color images of celebrities. Users can choose to view different types of celebrities, including the most popular, latest, sports, television and film, music and fashion.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

JustSpotted was created by Scoopled Incorporated, a company founded in July of 2008. JustSpotted launched on October 11th, 2010 by AJ Asver and Dilan Jayawardane. The original founders are still a part of the team, which includes over 10 individuals.

In 2011 the team was hired by Google to work on Google+ and was shut down.

What are the differences to other apps?

There are many resources that provide users with information on famous people. What makes JustSpotted different is its timely focus. The site gives users an up to the moment status for their favorite celebrity as soon as it is made available on the web. The site scours numerous sources and keeps up to date information so users are always given the most recent status for the celebrities they follow.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

The JustSpotted website utilizes a fun blue and pink color scheme that compliments the stylish logo well. Users can see embedded Google maps pin pointing the most recent sightings of many popular celebrities. User can read through status updates and select from six tabs to filter the type of celebrity they view. By clicking the pink “I’m a fan” button, the user can begin to follow their favorite famous people. JustSpotted provides users with a great deal of information on famous individuals in a way that is easy to read and well organized.

How does the registration process work?

A new user can become a member of the JustSpotted community by clicking on the pink “Sign Up” button found near the upper right hand corner of the page (under the “New to JustSpotted?” header). The user is given three sign in options, which is a nice touch. New users can click either the dark blue “Connect with Facebook” or light blue “Sign in with Twitter” buttons to use an existing social networking account. The bottom of the form includes an area for an email address and password for those who prefer to go the traditional route. After clicking the pink “Go” button, the user is automatically logged into their newly created account.

What does it cost to use the application?

JustSpotted provides a fun, entertaining service but it is not something that most people would be willing to fork out cash for. Luckily the site creators have kept the price just right. Anyone can enjoy Just Spotted and all the current site features for free. There are no subscription fees or other costs associated with using JustSpotted.

Who would you recommend the application to?

JustSpotted is geared towards anyone who loves to follow celebrities. Users who enjoy celeb gossip publications and similar media can really get into this borderline stalking approach to following celebrities.
